Footprints Matter
Northern Pinal County Superstition Foothills Environmental Stewardship

A wonderful and productive year! January's annual event and September's Partnership Cleanup Surrounding Superior were successful. We certainally left GOOD FOOTPRINTS - now we need spread the word to educate others and bring awareness to this huge behavioral problem that is becoming more and more common in Arizona.  It is through Self Responsibility, Education, Knowledge and Ownership that we can make a difference, Enforcement is and should be the last resort.  Thank you to all!

JANUARY 17th ANNUAL EVENT brought 402 Volunteers into our 'backyard' to pick-up trash and debris. Several areas between Peralta Road and Superior on the Northern side of US 60 were the focus of this year's cleanup.

Arizona State Trust Land: 119 Volunteers canvased the Peralta Trailhead Road and areas off El Camion Viejo on the Arizona State Trust Land (ASTL). It was truly a Pride and Polish Program. The rewarding success of minimal trash found in these areas was evident to returning Volunteers from the Soroptimist's of Gold Canyon, the Peralta Hiking Club, local ranchers, local residents and winter residents of the Arizonian RV Park .  Trigger trash on past shooting sites on the ASTL has been eliminated for the most part, however new household dumping sites were found. At the end of the day, 2 landscape trailers and 1 40 yd. roll-on were filled.

Tonto National Forest, Hewitt Station Road and the Whitlow Dam
This year, our main focus was on this major target shooting area. There were more than dozen massive trash sites spread out. With the cooperation of the Arizona Game and Fish, Tonto National Forest and donations from several businesses, the support equipment, backhoes, dump trailers and the 283 volunteers we filled all 3 roll-on dumpsters. Volunteers were then treated to a wonderful lunch, donated by Red Bear Outfitters.

SURROUNDING SUPERIOR - PARTNERSHIP CLEANUP was a Success.
We were joined by Superior Chamber of Commerce and Resolution Copper Mining, as well as many other volunteers and business organizations.
