Northern Pinal County Superstition Foothills Environmental Stewardship

January 19, 2013
For the fourth consecutive year, the people of our community came together to clean up the Peralta foothills area in Gold Canyon on Saturday, January 19th.

Through the efforts of Soroptimist International of Gold Canyon (SIGC), Superstition Area Land Trust (S.A.L.T.) and Pinal Partnership’s Open Space Committee (PP-OSC), we gathered 216 volunteers armed with rakes, shovels and a can-do attitude.

These dedicated individuals included local citizens, organizations, businesses, ranchers, and a large contingency of 100 school children.  These able-bodied and hard-working youngsters came from the Ecology Explorers of Peralta Trail Elementary, Girl Scout Troop #1481  of Apache Junction, Girl Scout Troop #1450 of Gold Canyon and Boy Scout Pack #638 of Apache Junction. Business and Organizations also came out in full force, some gathering more than 20 individuals prepared to spend the day.
